Ski Launch
Press release:
New double surf ski and website for Holywell Bay Surf Lifesaving Club
‘The Big Ski Launch’ took place at noon on Sunday 12 April when Holywell Bay Surf Lifesaving Club launched their brand new double surf ski. Fundraising and sponsorship from C-Bay restaurant and bistro, Treguth Inn, Treworgans Holiday Park and Usfor design and printing financed the ski. Further information of the ski launch and club can be found on the club’s brand new dynamic website at www.holywellbayslsc.co.uk – launched on the day by club member Jeeka Griffin (www.majik-websites.co.uk).
Founded in 1962, Holywell Bay SLSC strives to maintain lifesaving, not just for its members, but for the whole community through a combination of determination, courage, teamwork and an awful lot of fun! The club trains our local children from the age of 6 and by a system of age and ability related programs, create opportunities for them to become fully trained and qualified lifeguards. Several of our children have become lifeguards on Holywell Beach and through vigilance and service maintain a safe environment for us all to enjoy. Beach training for nippers and juniors resumes on Saturday 2 May at 9.45am sharp!
On a serious note, in the first week of April this year, Chris Bisson, Rhys Ellis-Davies, Mike Gough and Steve Peck – all senior club members at Holywell Bay rescued 4 people from the sea in separate incidents. Full time lifeguards are not employed until May, but club members still maintain an unofficial watch over the sea even when surfing socially.
