
National Surf Lifesaving Competition – Exmouth
Fantastic result for Holywell Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.
The annual National Surf Lifesaving competition took place from 26th to 30 August at Exmouth beach where male and female teams from all over England and Wales competed in the surf race, board race, ski race, oceanman, 1km beach race, beach flags, beach sprint, double ski race, board rescue, ski relay, beach sprint relay, taplin relay (swim, run and board) and board relay.
A squad from Holywell Bay SLSC entered with teams in the Nippers, Youth and Masters categories. 26 H-Bay Nippers competed against 29 other clubs and finished in an amazing 7th place winning 17 gold, 11 silver and 6 bronze medals. Only 7 H-Bay Youths were able to travel but finished in a superb 15th place out of 24 teams with 2 gold medals and 1 bronze. The H-Bay Masters team finished in a fantastic fourth position out of 24 teams and collected 20 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze medals.
A total of 87 medals were won by Holywell Bay SLSC, which is a brilliant result for the competitors, parents, coaches and the club as a whole.
The County Surf Lifesaving championships take place this weekend 12/13 September at Holywell Bay beach – good luck to all our local clubs.
