National Open Championship
Holywell Bay SLSC was represented at the National Open Championship by Emily White, Jon Longman and Rhys Ellis-Davies. Competition was fierce between numerous competitors from each of 19 clubs from all over the country that descended on Portreath for 2 days.
Holywell Bay finished a highly creditable 12th overall, with Emily winning a fantastic gold in the beach sprint and bronze in the beach flags. Jon fought against a host of young swimmers to finish 7th in the surf race and following 2 hard qualifying rounds, finished 7th in the board race. Rhys added to the team points by finishing 7th in the beach flags.
Huge congratulations go to our 3 who competed so strongly against teams that contained National and European champions. Holywell Bay SLSC’s reputation as strong competitors was greatly increased by their performance which the whole club are proud of.
