Wrapping up another excellent year of Surf Life Saving in Holywell Bay

As 2025 comes to a close, team Holywell has been celebrating another year of amazing team work, training, fun days, parties, BBQs and beach volleyball!

Nippers enjoyed the famous end of the year party at the Smugglers in November – this year a neon silent disco!  Awards were handed out to a special few, but each and every Nipper really deserves a medal for putting in the work each week – learning new skills and becoming more confident in the water.

Special mentions to the winners:

Tazz Award – Marley Jennings

Belly Flop – Nina Besterman

Kind Cup – Isla Ellis

Newbie – Poppy Coleman

Mini – Ophelia Hutton

Most improved – Tomas Griffin

Fin Award (adult helper) – Rob Appleton & Anna Jennings

Top competitor

Girl – Genevieve Booth

Boy – Noah Tildesley

Captain’s Award – Ted Buscombe

Nipper Junior of the Year – Sophie Murray

Nipper of the Year – Elsie Savage

Huge thanks to the coaches who have worked incredibly hard again this year. We now have an impressive 38 qualified beach lifeguards – all trained and funded by the club – to give us the beach cover we need to allow all Nippers to safely enjoy time in the sea. Well done to everyone who passed this year.

Remember that we accept new applicants every year and currently still have space for more members of all ages.  Nippers can come along for a free trial session – just email info@holywellbayslsc.co.uk to find out more and book a spot.

During the winter, we will be swimming in Newquay Waterworld on Sunday (Nippers), and Newquay View (Trevelgue) Holiday Park on Thursday evenings (Nippers, Juniors and Masters). Plus we have optional additional sessions in the 50m pool at Mount Kelly School in Tavistock for extra competition training.

New members are made to feel part of the club very quickly and anyone opting for full membership can make use of the excellent, recently refurbished club house and kit – or join in beach volleyball, BBQs, fun days and winter parties!

The opportunities with Surf Life Saving are endless, come and find out more about this cornerstone of our community and get involved!
