Seniors (20 to 29 years) & Masters (30+ years)
We love to meet new members and offer appropriate training programmes where possible in the sports and lifesaving disciplines to keep everyone happy and stimulated.
Our older members are important to us as we depend on them for help with events and fundraising and they are a vital support network for other club members.
Holywell Bay SLSC has a strong senior membership and in recent history the seniors have been inclined to surf more than surf life save! We have a very proud surfing heritage, surfing runs hand in hand with surf life saving at Holywell Bay. Our seniors and masters are a dedicated bunch with many skills to offer. Our club hut literally would not be there without them; it is built, maintained and run by our team of Seniors and Masters!
In 2014 our illustrious team of Masters dominated the Cornish championships held on our own beach for the second consecutive year. Our Masters pulled together and demonstrated how much fun Surf Life Saving Sport can be. The fantastic team that took part was just a part of a massive club effort to provide such a special occasion, the whole club pulled together to get the event done. Getting kit onto the beach, barbecuing to feed the competitors and spectators and putting up the marquee all carried out in H-bay style… one in, all in! The club has always taken great pride in hosting events and will continue to rise to these occasions.
We also take great pride in the social side of the club and this really what makes the club so special. The social side is like the cement that holds our hut together. The barbecue is like the engine that fuels the club’s members. Many evenings are spent around the barbecue, sometimes you may need to queue but it’s always worth the wait. Often after a great day of enjoying the bay, the Seniors and Masters will line the warm south facing natural stone wall and digest and watch the sunset before the fire is lit to warm the sandy, salt encrusted members into the early hours.
